Adele Mara..............Born Adelaide Delgado in 1925 Spanish-American Adele Mara was a singer/dancer with Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra in Detroit by the age of 15. Cugat sent the gorgeous brunette with brown eyes to New York. A Columbia talent scout spotted her and she signed on in 1942. In 1942, she starred as a hot leading lady in a string of bland B movies like Vengeance of the West starring Tex Ritter. She was transformed a few years later to a hot platinum blonde pin-up when she joined Republic Studios. The actress was very busy in the studio, predominantly playing Senorita-types in the cowboy films Roy Rogers in Bells of Rosarita (1945) and Gene Autry in Twilight on the Rio Grande (1947). Blackmail (1947), Web of Danger (also 1947) and The Wake of the Red Witch(1948) featuring John Wayne, as well as The Avengers (1950) were other crime dramas she was involved in. Arguably her best parts would include Angel in Exile (1948) as well as Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) which, again, starred Duke Wayne. It was not often that she had an opportunity to showcase her acting abilities, but her film career waned in the mid 1950s. On The Big Circus, starring Victor Mature in 1959, she appeared for the final time on the screen. Adele was then a TV star and was featured in numerous guest spots, mostly westerns. After she married television billionaire Roy Huggins, the producer of many hit series including 77 Sunset Strip (2005) and Maverick (2007) The actress eventually settled in to raise a child. The actress would be a guest on a variety of these. Three children have been born to this couple. Huggins passed away 2nd February 2002.
