Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actress singer and music producer. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and encountered a number of racial slurs and caused her to feel uncomfortable. In her 9th grade that she gained confidence after receiving a rousing ovation in an audition. The event not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed her goals in life. When she was 22, she received her degree from at the Julliard School of New York. At the age of 23 she started her professional career, making her first appearance on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films with You've Got Mail. The character of The lad from The Lake became her biggest breakthrough, bringing herself an award called the Tony Award in addition to the acclaim of critics for her role. Her fame grew when she appeared in Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. She is known as a performer and has also released a single as well as an extended version of her play. She is an activist who is a tireless advocate for LGBT equality.
