Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. In her early Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Ashford's upcoming project is a limited edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. As an Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platform. Ashford will return in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the leading the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the country's First Impeachment Proceedings in Over a Century. Ashford starred for two seasons in the CBS popular comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway performances. Ashford is from the city of Denver native who now divides his time between Los Angeles.
